Mumbai, October 01: Gold declined further at the bullion mark here today on sustained selling by stockists and speculators despite prices ruling firm at the global level.
Silver, after touching a fresh all-time high yesterday, also encountered profit-taking to close lower.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) dropped by Rs 55 per ten grams to end at Rs 19,095 from overnight closing level of Rs 19,150.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) also fell by a similar margin to finish at Rs 19,185, as against Rs 19,240 yesterday.
Silver ready (.999 fineness) lost Rs 95 per kilo to conclude at Rs 33,840 from Thursday’s closing level of Rs 33,935.
In Europe, spot gold was bid at USD 1,315.65 an ounce in early trade as against USD 1,305.25 late in New York on yesterday. Silver was bid at USD 22.01 an ounce as against USD 21.70.
