Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said the State government has geared up for conducting the traditional Bonalu festival in the GHMC area on a grand scale from July 4.
The minister held a review meeting with the officials as the State festival of Bonalu is just a few days away. He said the government has released Rs 15 crore for successful conduct of the Bonalu in the city at three places. The first Bonalu of Ashada month will be celebrated at Golconda Fort on July 4, the minister informed.
Bonalu festival will be held at Ujjaini Mahankali Goddess temple in Secunderabad on July 21 and the last one at Old City on July 28, Srinivas Yadav stated. For all these festivities, the officials were instructed to take necessary steps for providing all facilities. Health camps will be provided at the temples to have power facility, water supply, traffic regulation, barricading and security will be made for the devotees.
The GHMC is coordinating with other officials for smooth and peaceful conduct of the Bonalu festivities. He also said the GHMC will spend a total of Rs 22 crore to provide all facilities at the main temples like roads, repairs, power supply, lighting of historic places, sanitation and some three lakh drinking water packets.
