Proper use of Gadavari waters will help transform Telangana into green besides increasing the agriculture production considerably, Irrigation Advisor to Telangana Government Ch Vidyasagar Rao has said.
Talking to mediapersons at Secretariat here, Rao said the State government got permission from the Central Water Commission (CWC) to use 160 tmc of Godavari waters and some 16 lakh acres in the State could be brought under irrigation, he said. He also accused the successive governments of misguiding the Centre through wrong reports.
Vidyasagar Rao accused the previous governments of deliberately attempting to neglect Pranahitha-Chevella project in Telangana. He alleged that the officials abstained from giving complete details at the behest of the previous governments, he charged. Such reports were aimed at damaging the Telangana region which was put to immense loss in farm production and non completion of irrigation projects, he remarked. The previous governments made deliberate attempts to frustrate the development of the region, he alleged. (NSS)
