Godavari water for Kothagudem power plant

Hyderabad, January 22: The State Government today decided to supply Godavari water through lift irrigation for operation of the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS). The decision was taken during the one-to-one meeting the chief minister had with district collectors on the second day of the twoday conference here today.

Speaking to reporters later, Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah said that Chief Minister K Rosaiah had accorded permission for lifting water from Godavari river to meet the requirements of the power station as water levels are depleting in the Kinnerasani project which supplies water to the power station. The chief minister has also given his consent to release budget allocations for Kinnerasani, Dummugudem and Indira Sagar projects in Warangal district.

Further, Rosaiah gave approval for allocation of a 200-acre land and funds for the airport at Mamunoor in Warangal district apart from a children’s hospital at Warangal and a 13-acre land for Kendriya Vidyalaya

in Khammam district. He wanted the officials to expedite construction of the second phase of Bhoopalapalli project. He also directed the Panchayat Raj department to consider proposals on laying roads in rural areas of Warangal district.
