Godavari In Spate: People Of Low-Lying Areas Alerted

The river Godavari is in spate because of heavy rains in its upper reaches.

The level of the river, which was 26 feet here on Monday morning, shot up to 35 feet by Tuesday morning. The level of the river is rising by the hour. Officials fear that it would soon cross the danger mark and had alerted people in the low-lying areas to be alert.

KRISHNA WATER BEING DISCHARGED INTO SEA

Vijayawada: Meanwhile, the river Krishna is also in spate with heavy rains upstream. Almost all the rivulets and major canals have been in spate, resulting in inflow of 27,626 cusecs of water into Prakasham barrage. With this, 25 crest gates were lifted for one foot and 18,125cusecs of water was discharged into the sea. Besides, 4,143 cusecs of water was being discharged into the east main canal and 5,008 cusecs into the Krishna west canal and 350 cusecs into the Guntur channel. (NSS)
