Godavari, Krishna to irrigate lands: Harish

The TRS dispensation has expedited the completion of major Irrigation projects to fulfill the dream of irrigating parched lands to reap  benefits, according to Irrigation minister T Harish Rao.

Moving a resolution related to irrigation projects at the 15th plenary of TRS here, Harish said it was planned to draw Godavari and Krishna waters to our dry lands and witness more yield for better benefits. He accused the previous governments of deliberately attempting to deprive the region of irrigation projects. Injustice was  meted out to Telangana in undivided state,  and now efforts are on to irrigate every acre, Harish maintained.

With a plan to irrigate one crore acres , Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao taught us water lessons, he said. The  entire nation appreciated KCR for his power point presentation on irrigation in Assembly budget session. Kaleshwaram project will irrigate crops in five districts. After an agreement with Maharashtra, tenders are  being called for Lower Penganga project to irrigate 2 lakh acres.

Earlier, Roads and Buildings minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao said that Khammam being a citadel for revolutions and struggles had played a  key role in statehood fight. KCR did not care for his life for statehood and waged a protracted struggle. Now that the TRS is at the  helm of affairs,  we have to work for welfare and party workers have to propagate the good work done by the Government, he said.(NSS)
