Irrigation Minster T. Harish Rao on Sunday laid the foundation stone for Lift Irrigation Projects in Chinchali of Bignor mandal of Nizamabad district.
Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairman Raju, Lok Sabha MP B.B.Patil and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that the Telangana Government would complete the works of linking Godavari and Indravati rivers in the next three years. He said that linking would enable supply of irrigation water to Nizamabad district through Nizam Sagar Project.
Harish Rao blamed the previous regimes for the suicides by farmers. He said if previous regimes would have completed the irrigation projects in Telangana, then farmers’ dependability on rainfed cultivation would have got minimised. He appealed to the farmers not to resort to the extreme steps. He assured that they would be given adequate Minimum Support Price for their produce. He also promised construction of new godowns to stock the agriculture product and new yards to sell the produce. (INN)
