Panaji, October 27: A man of Indian origin with British citizenship wanted by UK police has been arrested in Goa, police said today.
Ajay Kaushal (50) was reportedly on the run after he was awarded 15 years of imprisonment for kidnapping. He entered India through Bangkok, according to police records.
Kaushal’s identity was established through his travel documents and he was held last night, DSP Umesh Gaonkar said.
He arrived in Goa via Mumbai along with his Briton friend William Scott, who died a few hours after the arrival. Police came to know about Kaushal accidentally during interrogation of Scott’s death in a hotel room on Sunday.
Lancashire police were on a look out for Kaushal who was awarded 15-year jail term in his absence at Preston Crown Court.
