Goa not happy with I&B ministry’s move to take over IFFI

Panaji, September 08: The Goa government today expressed its displeasure over Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s apparent move to take over majority of the role in hosting International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

State government’s Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), which co-hosts IFFI, today met and discussed the draft MoU sent by Directorate of film festival (DFF).

“The MoU in the current form is unacceptable to ESG.

It intends to take away majority of role from ESG. This means, most of the rights of IFFI will go to DFF,” a senior ESG governing council member told PTI, requesting anonymity.

The meeting which was chaired by Chief Minister Digamber Kamat also resolved to meet Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ambika Soni, and discuss the issue.

“The delegation would be led by the chief minister,” the member said.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Kamat said the council discussed various alternations to the draft MoU sent by DFF.
