Panaji, October 20: Home minister Ravi Naik opened a can of worms on Monday when he asked the police to probe the links Jyoti Dhavalikar, wife of state transport minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, has with the Sanatan Sanstha. “We are probing everyone.
We know that Jyoti Dhavalikar is part of the institution, although we do not know in what capacity. I have asked police to enquire,” Naik said. Sanatan Sanstha is under the scanner for its alleged involvement in the bomb blast at Margao on Friday.
When questioned whether the wife of the transport minister was being investigated, DIG R S Yadav said, “Police investigations have to be done according to merit, as per the law. If there is evidence, we will take action.”
Admitting that his wife has been associated with the Sanstha for the last four years in meditational work, Dhavalikar on Monday said the Sanstha should be punished if their guilt in the Margao blast is proved.
When asked if his wife’s connection to the Sanstha was being probed by police, Dhavalikar replied in the negative. He said she has been giving lectures on meditation for the last 14 years and when the Sanstha opened a branch near his house in Bandora, she associated herself with it.
