New Delhi [India]: After a successful 20th edition in Visakhapatnam, the India International Seafood Show (IISS) has announced its next edition to be held in Goa in February 2018.
According to Dr A Jayathilak, the chairman at Marine Products Export Development Agency (MPEDA), the coastal state of Goa, knowing for its scenic beauty, sandy beaches and thriving ports, would host the next edition (21st edition) of the event.
This announcement was made on the final day the three-day event, which was from September 23 to September 25.
The 20th edition of IISS, with ‘Safe and Sustainable Indian Aquaculture’ as the central theme, was a big success with a number of positives for all the stakeholders of the seafood industry in India and abroad.
Andhra Pradesh being the Aquaculture Capital State of India and Visakhapatnam being an important port city and a scenic, commercial hub of the state, was selected as the ideal location for holding IISS 2016.
An international showpiece event of the marine products sector, IISS is organized by MPEDA, a statutory body under the Union Commerce and Industry Ministry, in collaboration with Seafood Exporters’ Association of India (SEAI), with Export Inspection Council (EIC) as its knowledge partner.
On a related note, the first Seafood Show was held at Mumbai in 1973. The last three editions in 2010, 2012 and 2014, held at Chennai, made the show prominent in the Global Sea food Community and established an International stature. (ANI)
