Goa allowing centre’s interference in IFFI:Parrikar

Panaji, March 23: Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar today said that the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa is deteriorating as the state government was allowing the interference of the central government.

“The IFFI is deteriorating because Goa government is allowing the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) to take the charge of the festival. They (DFF) are typical bureaucrats,” said Parrikar, who brought IFFI to Goa in 2004, during his tenure as Chief Minister.

“Stop signing MoUs with the DFF,” he suggested referring to the annual agreement signed between Goa government and Information and Broadcasting Ministry on the IFFI.

Parrikar said that Goa has enough experienced officers, who can take charge of the festival.

“The state should mount pressure on the centre to give more role in organising the festival,” the Leader of Opposition said while speaking in the assembly.
