The GMR-run GMR Aviation Academy (GMRAA) has started imparting training to the staff of Oman Airport Management Company (OAMC) under a bilateral agreement.
The first batch of trainees from OAMC, which reached India recently, has commenced its two-week training, GMR group said in a release.
GMR Airport Developer Ltd (GADL), a subsidiary of the Bengaluru-based GMR Infrastructure BSE 0.80 % Ltd, had in June signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oman Airport Management Company (OAMC).
After a two-week training stint in India, the OAMC team would return to Muscat. The 22-member team from OAMC is currently undergoing a specially designed course on Airfield Rescue and Firefighting at Hyderabad. Next week, the team will continue their training at GMRAA, New Delhi.
There would be a new batch every three weeks. About 6 to 10 batches, each consisting of 16 to 22 trainees, would undergo the training. The training programme would cover firefighters from all the four airports in Oman — Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm. In line with the terms, on-site support would be provided for six months at Salalah Airport.
This training is tailored to help adapt some of the best practices of GMR’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
It had earlier provided training and consultancy to an airport management team in the Philippines.
