Glitz and glamour at TSR awards show

Hyderabad, April 11: It was North meets South as film personalities from Bollywood and Tollywood rubbed shoulders at the grand TSR Film Awards 2010 show at the Shilpa Kalavedika here on Sunday.

The evening of glitz and glamour brought together the entire who’s who of Tollywood in honouring the best performers of their fraternity.

Speaking on the occasion, T Subbarami Reddy, MP and chairman of the TSR Lalitha Kala Parishath said, “People think of glamour when it comes to films, but cinema is a perfect embodiment of art and culture.” The awards were instituted by him to promote art and culture in Andhra Pradesh.

The grand show was kickstarted with a power-packed performance portraying the tandava dance of Lord Shiva, followed by breathtaking performances by stars like Raveen Tondon, Mahima Choudhary and Namitha, among others.

Punctuating by these pulsating dances, awards were given to a whole galaxy of Tollywood stars as well as Bollywood actors like Dharamendra, Shatrhughan Sinha, Subhash Ghai and Juhi Chawla.

“Hyderabad ki dharti se mujhe bahut pyaar hai (I love Hyderabad),” said Dharamendra, receiving the Bollywood Evergreen Hero award. Among the award recipients from Tollywood was grand thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao who received the Pride of India award from Dharmendra.

Yesteryear star Jayasudha received the Silver Screen Outstanding Artiste Award from Prabhu Chawla, editorial director of The New Indian Express.

The other stars that graced the occasion included Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu, Jayasudha, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, D Rama Naidu, N Balakrishna, among many others.

The evening of pure cinema, art and culture ended in a grand rush and blaze of lights.
