Uttarakhand, September 21: At least two army officials killed and 41 others injured when a portion of glacier collapsed at the Kamet Mountain in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
According to the sources, Colonel Puran Chandra and Major Manoj Gusain were killed when a major portion of ice fell on the convoy.
Around 41 jawans are still trapped in the glacier.
The victims were member of a mountaineer unit of army. The rescue operation has been launched but relentless rain and bad weather conditions have been obstructing the rescue operation.
Kamet is the second highest mountain in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, after Nanda Devi, 7,816 m (25,643 ft).
