Give us funds, take support, PRP tells CM

Hyderabad, January 20: The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), which has decided to support the government of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, wants the government to release funds liberally to the Assembly segments represented by the PRP.

An emergency meeting of the party at president K Chiranjeevi’s residence today took stock of the political situation. However, a majority of the PRP MLAs did not attend the meeting due to ‘personal reasons’.

Later, the MLAs submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and sought funds to execute development and welfare programmes in their respective Assembly segments.

They also demanded that the State set up a fund with `1,000 crore to control the prices of essential commodities. They wanted the State to give input subsidy of `10,000 per hectare to the farmers who had lost their crops.

They urged the Chief Minister to reduce VAT on petroleum products and do away with VAT on kerosene.

They urged the government to repair the damaged roads in the state on a war-footing as they were posing a threat to the lives of people.
