Give top priority to protection of Wakf properties – Zahid Ali Khan advises Saleem

Hyderabad: Newly elected Chairman of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Saleem called on Mr. Zahid Ali Khan at the office of Siasat yesterday. He expressed his determination to protect wakf properties.

 

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan congratulated Mr. Saleem on his election as chairman of Wakf Board and advised him to give top priority to the protection of wakf properties and also to ensure that the income of wakf properties is spent according to the will of the donors mentioned in wakf deed.

 

Mr. Mohammed Saleem told that he had made a mark in the past as chairman of Wakf Board with a clean image among the Muslims. He said that he wants to work for pleasing Allah (SWT) in the second term of his office.

 

He further told that when Mr. KCR offered him this position, he accepted this responsibility keeping in mind the development and protection of wakf properties and the will of god. He informed that immediately after taking charge as Chairman of Wakf Board, he reviewed the functioning of all the sections of Wakf Board and issued necessary instructions to officials and employees. He made it clear that whosoever is found guilty of damaging the wakf properties, would be dealt with seriously. He further told that Wakf Board staff needs training for better utilization of wakf properties. He promised that he would arrange such training through experts every month. He mentioned that an attempt would be made to get this sanction for improving the cadre strength. He further told that CM himself is very serious about the protection of wakf properties. He had made a promise on the floor of Assembly that the wakf properties under the possession of Govt. institutions would be given back to Wakf Board.

 

Mr. Saleem also told that every possible legal effort would be made for the acquisition of wakf property belonging to Dargah Hazrath Husain Shah Wali. After consulting the legal experts, Special Leave Petition would be filed in Supreme Court for speedy disposal of the case. If need be, a resolution could be passed in the meeting of the Wakf Board requesting the Govt. to withdraw its claim about the ownership of this wakf property. He told that he has instructed the officials of Wakf Board to hold a meeting of all the wakf inspectors. He asked the Wakf inspectors not to be lethargic in the protection of Wakf properties in the districts. He assured that wakf inspectors would be provided all the essential facilities. It is the responsibility of wakf inspectors to protect wakf properties in the districts. They could seek cooperation from the district collector and SP. He told that his top priority is to make Wakf Board exemplary in the entire country. He would consult all the persons in every walk of life to get their suggestions for the better functioning of Wakf Board.

 

He informed that action would be taken soon for leasing out wakf properties for 30 years which the Govt. had permitted.

 

It may be mentioned that Mr. Mohammed Saleem who held the office of Chairman of Wakf Board for four years earlier, had a clean record. He expressed his delight that on the basis of his better performance in the past, Mr. KCR entrusted him this responsibility for the second time. He mentioned that he has the full support of all the members of Wakf Board.
