Hyderabad: President of Telangana Jana Samithi, Prof. Kodandaram met Chief Secretary of Telangana State, Mr. S.K. Joshi and demanded to issue orders for giving support price to farmers for red jawar and turmeric. He also said that farmers of Nizamabad and other districts are agitating but Govt. has no interest to resolve their problems.
He demanded the Chief Secretary to ensure payment of support prices. He informed that when farmers came on to the roads for getting their demands fulfilled, they are being thrown into jails under various sections of IPC.
Prof. Kodandaram demanded the Govt. to withdraw all such cases filed against farmers. He recalled that before elections, lofty promises were made but after the formation of new government agriculture sector was set aside.
Mr. Joshi assured him that he would issue instructions to district collectors.
