New Delhi: A BJP member today objected to the absence of the Opposition in Lok Sabha saying while they were attacking the government the beef issue earlier, they were missing when the House was discussing the issue of provident fund facilities for workers.
“It is the duty of the Opposition to remain in the House when such an issue is being discussed…They were raising the issue of beef (earlier in the day)… The Opposition is unemployed and the government should grant them licences to run slaughter houses and allowed residency of Pakistan,” Ramesh Bidhuri said while participating in a discussion on a private member’s resolution on provident fund.
While Congress benches were empty when the private members’ item was taken up, a few members of CPI(M) and RSP were among those present. There were also very few members in the treasury benches.
Bidhuri said the UPA government had done little for the workers during its rule.
He said the Narendra Modi government has now launched several schemes for the welfare of workers and labours.
