Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today urged the Centre to give funds towards conducting Krishna Pushkaralu. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the chief minister said that it was estimated to spend Rs 802.19 cr for Krishna pushakaralu beginning from Aug 12 in the state and sought the Central share of Rs 601.65 cr for the event under one time central assistance head to the state to celebrate big events of national importance.
The State government has decided to conduct the Krishna pushkaralu in a grand manner on the lines of Godavari Pushkaralu and funds needed to construct bathing ghats and provide all facilities during the event. The Krishna river which passes through 281 km in Telangana is one of the pious rivers in India, he noted. He also apprised to Modi that about 3.5 cr people from two Telugu States, Karnataka and Maharastra for the 12 day long Krishna pushkaralu for which the districts concerned were asked to make necessary arrangements. KCR also said that the state government had already sent the related details to the Union Finance ministry and urged Modi to take initiative for speedy release of the funds sought a CMO release said.
