The Budget session of Telangana Assembly here on Tuesday saw an interesting debate on housing to poor, pensions to eligible and finally injustice meted out to then Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao after his death by the Congress regime at the Centre.
When Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy tried to corner the ruling party for failing to address the issues of poor, farmers, students, pensioners and others through its budget, IT Minister K T Ramarao retorted saying the TRS Government was planning to introduce life history of PV Narasimha Rao in school syllabus besides recommending his name to the Centre to bestow him “Bharat Ratna”.
KTR alleged the Congress regime and party failed to take up any program to recall PV’s services as Prime Minister for a minority government. The Congress regime at the Centre, instead of performing final rites to the body of Narsimha Rao with government formalities at Delhi, sent back the body to Hyderabad where it was half burnt. Though Congress forgot PV soon, but being the son of Telangana soil, the TRS Govt recognized him and gave due importance and sought the Centre to give Rao Bharath Rathna, KTR said.
Stating that bifurcation of officials was yet to be completed despite formation of Telangana State and started functioning with just 40 officials, KTR said they are ready to take constructive criticism. He said the Outer Ring Road saw many turns and twists which can be attributed to the Congress rule. Attributing the present crisis of power, non-completion of irrigation projects, stagnation of storm water drains in Hyderabad and many others to the negligence and corruption of the Congress and Telugu Desam regimes, KTR said they are ready to take valuable suggestions from Jana Reddy and other seniors in implementing all welfare schemes. The government is committed for the welfare of the poor and deprived classes, he declared.
Earlier, Jana Reddy suggested to the TRS to either complete the housing project began by them or take up their own model of giving two bed-room houses for each poor family. If the government failed to give them the houses, the poor will curse the Congress as well as the TRS government, he warned. The Congress Government began construction of houses for about 4.30 lakh poor which are yet to complete, he said. When Jana Reddy claimed that the Congress got so many Central government and Defense institutions like BDL, DRDL, DRDO, HAL, IICT, NGRI, HAL and others to the city, KTR said they became functional with collective efforts, but many companies were closed down due to wrong policies and lack of commitment.
