Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today urged the Centre to release funds for irrigation projects and national highways taken up in Telangana State.
Along with MP B Vinod Kumar and others, Harish Rao called on Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi and briefed him about the projects, national highways and development works going on in the state. Later talking to press persons, Harish said that he urged Nitin Gadkari to provide funds for development works.
“I extended thanks to Gadkari for extending all permissions for the Kaleshwaram project and sought immediate release of Rs 50 cr to Rs 60 cr funds for some other small projects like Bheema, Nilwayi, Ryali Vagu, Mathadi Vagu and Komram Bheem.
I also urged Gadkari to cooperate for speedy completion of the works pertaining tothe irrigation projects and national highways.
For this financial year, the state government has urged the Centre to allot funds for 7th national highway works in Telangana he said. He also said to have asked Nitin Gadkari to include in the 7th national highways list for release of funds like Sidhipet-Elkaturti, Janagam-Duddheda, Medak-YellaReddy, Fakirabad-Bhainsa, Siricilla- Kamareddy, Valikonda-Torrur and Nirmal-Khanapur.
He further said that he has appealed to the Centre to call tenders for these roads and begin the works by releasing necessary funds. Gadkari, he said, has patiently heard to him and promised to take necessary steps. “I hope, the Centre will release the funds for speedy completion of the project and national highways besides starting new roads for improving connectivity”, he added.(NSS)
