More than 400 girl students of a Government Higher secondary school at nearby Devaipattnam today refused to attend classes in protest against ‘unberable’ eve teasing by five boy students, police said. They said all the five had been arrested for reportedly threatening a girl, whose parents complained to school authorities that one of the boys had threatened to commit suicide if the girl did not reciprocate his love. Police said investigations revealed that many girls had psychological problems due to the teasing by the boys. DSP Muralidaran and revenue officials held talks with school officials, even as the girls refused to attend school today and their parents blocked road traffic near the town. Police assured them suitable follow up action would be taken following which the girls agreed to return to school from tomorrow. PTI
