Girls outshine boys in Inter results; Medchal tops, Mahabubabad least: Kadiam

The government colleges in Telangana State today outshined the private colleges and the girls surpassed the boys in the First year and second year examinations results declared here. In the first year, pass percentage was put at 62.73 per cent and Vocational at 58.55 per cent and the second year pass percentage was 67.06 and in vocational course 69.56 per cent. As usual, the girls outperformed the boys as their pass percentage was put at 68.85 and boys managed to get 56.36 per cent. Also the girls’ pass percentage was put at 72.70 while the boys 60.99 in the second year.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari announced the results at Intermediate Board office on Friday morning. On the occasion, Srihari proudly announced that the government colleges, including, Residential, Gurukul and Tribal Welfare Institutions outshone the private and corporate colleges. He said Medchal district stood top in first year with 79 per cent passes and Ranga Reddy came second with 77 per cent passes and the last was Mahbubabad with 43 per cent. Tribal Gurukul and Social Welfare students surpassed others in the first year, he said.

In the second year, Medchal and Komrambheem Asifabad secured first and second in first year with 80 per cent, Ranga Reddy in second place with 77 per cent and last was Mahbubabad district with 40 per cent. Srihari made a fervent appeal to the parents to avoid encouraging their wards to join only the private and corporate colleges as the government colleges are doing well now. He also warned of taking serious action of cancelling permission if the private and corporate colleges violated the academic calendar of the government. Srihari said performance of all the Residential Institutions was better than the private ones. Tribal Welfare Department Residential Institutions’ pass percentage was 87 percent while the other Residential Institutions 86 per cent and private institutions’ performance was put at just 69 per cent, the Deputy CM said.

He said the The last date for applying for instant and improvement exams is April 20. The candidates who failed in both 1st and 2nd year and those who want to improve can appear for Intermediate Advanced Supplementary Examinations, May/June 2018. He also said the first and 2nd year students passed in all papers can also appear for improvement. They can do so by paying Rs 150 per paper in addition to the normal examination fee, he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister also said the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations, May/June 2018 (Theory) will be held from May 14, Practical examinations from May 24 to 28, Ethics and Human Values examinations on May 29 and Environmental Education Examinations on May 30. As many as 4.15,366 general candidates and 40,423 vocational candidates appeared for the examinations, including boys 2,03,622 and passed 1,14,767 while the total number of girls appeared for the examination were 2,11,744 and passed 1,45,791. In the enrollment and appearing for the examinations also, the girls are more than the boys, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister informed that 1,42,840 students secured A grade, which is 54.82 per cent, Vocations 13,775 is 58.2 per cent, 68,828 got B grade and in vocations 9,141 and 33,656 got C grade and in vocations 712. He also said that D Grade 15,234 and vocations 38. Candidates booked under Malpractice 107 and in vocational 22. And in the 2nd year Intermediate Education a total of General Regular candidates 3,95,721 Private 74,613, Vocations Regular 33,657 and Private 3,787. Passed in General Regular is 2,65,360, Private 19,089, Vocational Regular 23,412 and private 1,555 he said.

The results put it that the girls excelled in appearance and passing the examinations are more in both in appearing of examinations and passes, the girls appeared 2,05,086 in general regular, 27,582 in private. 15,009 in Vocational Regular and 1,073 in private, out of this girls passed are General Regular 1,49,091 Private 8,251, Vocational Regular 12,130 and private 502, he added.
