New Delhi, May 20: After having lost to boys last year, girls reclaimed the title of top performers once again as the CISCE declared its secondary (ICSE) and senior secondary (ISC) board results on Wednesday. The toppers of Class 10 and Class 12, who are both girls, scored 98.8 per cent and 98.75 per cent respectively.
The scene was no different in the National Capital Region (NCR). The honours here were bagged by Holy Child School in Ghaziabad, which produced highest scorers both for Class 10 and 12 in NCR. While Ayushi Singhal of Class 10 notched up an aggregate of 96.8 per cent, Kamelia Majumdar scored 98 per cent. “For the last five years, except for a few stray cases, girls have been continually turning out to be toppers,” said Gerry Arathoon, Additional Secretary, CISCE.
“Even though the boys outnumber girls in terms of registration, the latter seem more dedicated.” Overall too, girls have outshone boys in terms of pass percentage. There are close to 30 schools affiliated to the Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations Board (CISCE) in the NCR – only two of them in Delhi. national toppers Janvi Thosani from Mumbai, that has 67 ISC schools, scored a full 100 marks in four out of seven subjects. With a 98.8 per cent, the highest score in the ICSE board so far, Thosani is the board’s Class 10 national topper this year – third consecutive year that Mumbai has produced the topper.
Party time is also on for Agra girl Sumidha Rai and Kolkata student Shreya Daga who jointly topped the national boards with 98.75 per cent in the class 12 ISC examinations.
