Girl sustains injuries after man throws acid on her

New Delhi, August 26: A 16-year-old girl suffered injuries when a man allegedly threw acid at her in east Delhi after she turned down his plea for marrying her, police said today.

The incident was reported from near a gurudwara in Geeta Colony this morning.

Suhana, a Class XII student in a government school, was attacked allegedly by Deepak when she was going to a coaching centre, police said.

Deepak and his friend Sanjeev had gone to her residence yesterday and told her parents about the former’s liking for the girl, they said.

However, the girl and family did not accept Deepak’s proposal, who was trying to woo the girl for the past six months.

Enraged at this, Deepak waited for the girl near the gurudwara and allegedly threw acid at her.

Deepak and Sanjeev were detained by police in connection with the incident.

She is admitted to Hedgewar hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is stated to be stable.
