Moscow, April 10: A Woman suicide bomber on Friday blew herself up in Nazaran, the capital of the Russian republic Ingushetia, fatally injuring the police chief there.
The police said the officer, Akhmed Tsurov, succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
Ingushetia is a predominantly Muslim republic in the Northern Caucasus and borders the war- torn Chechnya.
It has been troubled in recent years by Islamist insurgency.
The bomber was identified as Marina Yevloyeva, 26, a resident of the Kantyshevo in Nazaran, an investigator told the Interfax news agency.
“ Investigators have information that she was the wife of a militant blockaded in a house in Ekazhevo and was trying to get to her husband through the police cordon,” he said.
