Girl students sexually harassed by teacher in Bangalore

A case has been booked against a school teacher in Vijayanagar for alleged sexual harassment of his girl students. Some students of Sangamesha Vidya Kendra have accused Basavraj, a Hindi teacher, of detaining them after class hours on the pretext of special classes and trying to molest them.

The parents of one such student lodged a complaint with the Vijayanagar police on Saturday. The culprit Basavaraj is said to be absconding and a hunt is on to arrest him. Cases have been registered against him under IPC section 354 (relating to outraging modesty of woman).

The girl students alleged that he threatened that he would fail them in exams if they informed anyone. The teacher, a native of Dobbspet, fled from the school after knowing that the police had been alerted.
