Girl students of Sabarkantha Muslim trust school among district toppers

Himmatnagar, May 28: The students of this Muslim trust-run Madresa High School in Himmatnagar may not figure in the state merit list, but they have made their presence felt among the toppers in north Gujarat.

Four girl students of Madresa High School are in the Sabarkantha district merit list this year. Authorities at the 50-year-old school said their emphasis on girls’ education has finally paid off.

“The emphasis has always been on girls’ education. Quran is part of the syllabus in the school till class IV for Muslims. Moreover, we teach Arabic and Urdu languages,” said school principal A M Ranasiya. “Discipline in the society and good posterity can be a reality only if girls are well-educated,” said Ranasiya.

Begum who stood 10th in Sabarkantha, said, “My daughter has made me proud. We have decided to make Sadiya a chartered accountant. I have decided to send her to Ahmedabad for further studies.”

Sadiya’s mother Ishrat said “her success is because of her school and tuition classes. She has already filled the form to pursue the course to become a chartered accountant.”

Altaf Sabukarwala, MHS Trustee, said, ” Last year,

two girls from our school made it to the top ten list. This year we have six students — four in commerce stream and two in science. For last many years, we have Inter Quality Assurance Committee in our school.”
