Rewari, September 10: Agitating girl students of DAV Mahila College, Kosli held a dharna and blocked traffic on the Rewari-Kosli road for the second day today and also clashed with police, which opened fire in air to disperse them.
A number of youngsters as well as women of surrounding villages also joined the agitating girl students today.
The girls were demanding transfer of college principal Rita Sehgal, in addition to take over of the college by the state government, refund of “exorbitant” tuition fee charged from them and elimination of arbitrary imposition of hefty fines.
Ram Phal, DSP Kosli, who sustained injury in the melee, shut himself in a shop to escape the mob’s fury and was taken out of the shop after about two hours by a heavy police contingent, which also opened fire in the air to disperse the agitating youths, police said.
The DSP was admitted in a hospital at Kosli.
