In an appalling incident, a 15-year old girl Chandana was set on fire by her father and stepmother at Boggaram village of Epuru mandal in Guntur district on Saturday. The girl who had 80% burns was rushed to the hospital but she succumbed to injuries a couple hours later.
According to locals the maternal aunt of Chandana had bequeathed half an acre agriculture land and a house in the girl’s name before her death two years ago. Yogamma had been harassing the girl to transfer the property to Srinivasa Rao.
