Hyderabad: A choreographer cum event manager confined a 19-year-old girl from Kolkata, in a house located at Krishnapuri Colony of West Marredpally, and raped her for three days along with his two associates. The key suspect was arrested by the city police on Friday.
As per a statement issued by B. Sumathi, Deputy Commissioner of Police on Saturday, the key suspect, Preeth Shergill (39), a resident of Marredpally and a native of Ludhiana, was produced before the court and taken to judicial custody on Saturday.
The DCP informed that the victim came to Hyderabad on February 14, who shared a cab to a hotel in Somajiguda with another suspect Pinky. She took the victim for sightseeing along with Shergill the next day. While returning, Pinky got down from the car and told the girl that Shergill will drop her, reported by Telangana Today.
He took her to a house and confined her, the DCP informed.“He raped her and threatened her, apart from snatching Rs.7,000 and two gold rings from her. He also asked his driver Sultan to rape the girl when she was confined to the house. Two of his friends too joined them the next day, of which one also raped the victim. Shergill also stripped the victim and filmed her in the nude with his mobile phone and tied her to a chair before having a video chat with his friends,” he added.
The victim threw a tissue paper role in the neighbouring area in order to raise the alarm, following which the accused booked a cab for her and sent her to the airport. While the suspect fled, she narrated her story, post which a case was registered. Since then, the police were trying to catch the accused who were absconding. After Shergill was arrested on Friday, other two fled, the DCP stated.
