Girl kills mother, dumps body on rail tracks in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a shocking brutal incident which sent shivers down the spine of locals, a 19-year-old girl murdered her mother by strangling her for objecting to her relationship with a youth who lives in the neighbourhood.

The girl and her boyfriend purportedly stayed in the same house after killing her mother for three days, as the body lay decomposing in another room. The incident, which occurred on Friday, came to light only when the girl’s father lodged a missing person’s complaint with the Rachakonda police.

The girl student was identified as P Keerthi Reddy and her boyfriend, Shashi. Keerthi lived with her mother Rajitha, 38, while her father Srinivas Reddy, who works as a truck driver, used to be away at work most of the time.

Police officials from Rachakonda police said that the duo dumped Rajitha’s body on the railway tracks at Ramannapet in Bhuvanagiri district, after which Shashi left Keerthi, and fled.

Police said the girl took advantage of her father not being home at times. “Keerthi started a physical relationship with the youth and was caught red-handed by her mother. Her mother chided her and scolded her from meeting him. Upset over her mother’s scolding, Keerthi strangled her mother to death,” said the police.

According to sources, after killing her mother, the girl and her boyfriend allegedly indulged in sexual acts even as the body of her mother lay lifeless in the same house. With the help of her boyfriend, the girl dumped her mother’s body three days later when it began to decompose and emanate stench.

Her father, who came home after work on Sunday, grew suspicious when he could not find his wife Rajitha in the house. He called Keerthi who told him that she was in Vizag on a trip with her friends.

Sources said that after dumping the body, Keerthi was in another youth’s house from the same neighbourhood. After Keerthi returned home, she and her father lodged a missing person complaint with the police.

When officials grew suspicious of Keerthi, she reportedly confessed to the crime on being interrogated, said sources.

However, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat said that “we are investigating the case in chronological order and will soon close the case.” Keerthi is reportedly detained by the police while a hunt is on to nab her boyfriend.
