Girl kidnapped by tenants rescued

Bhubaneswar: A teenage girl, who was allegedly kidnapped by her tenants four days ago, was rescued today from Atapur area in Keonjhar district, police said.

The 13-year-old girl was kidnapped from Badagada area in the state capital.

The accused couple, originally hailing from Nayagarh district and staying on rent at the girl’s house, were arrested, police said.

The girl’s parents had lodged a complaint with the police that their daughter had been kidnapped by their tenant. They also approached the Police Commissioner to find out their daughter.

“The tenant’s wife told me that my father had sent a message to her and I need to accompany her. I told her that I can’t go since I have to go to school. But as she insisted I accompanied her leaving my bicycle there. When we reached Cuttack I asked her about my father. She said we will be meeting him soon,” the rescued girl said.

“They were talking among themselves about leaving for Bangaluru,” the girl said.
