Jaipur, October 04: A 19-year-old girl sustained severe burn injuries when an unidentified man threw acid on her in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, police said Tuesday.
The girl, Sangeeta Meena had gone to participate in ‘garba’ dance near her house in Pratap Nagar area and was returning home around 10.30 p.m. Monday when she was attacked.
‘Someone suddenly came out of darkness and threw acid on her. The girl, in her statement, said that he was wearing a mask,’ a police official told IANS.
The girl sustained burns on her face, neck and chest and has been admitted to a government hospital in Bhilwara, some 250 km from Jaipur.
Police suspected some jilted lover’s hand in the crime. The girl was pursuing M.A. degree from a private college.
‘We have launched investigations into the case and hope to make some arrests in this case soon,’ said the official.
