Girl gangraped in Delhi on pretext of job interview

New Delhi: A 19-year-old girl from Mathura was allegedly raped by three men at an apartment in Shakarpur area of east Delhi, police said today.

The girl was taken to the flat by the three men allegedly under the garb of a job interview. After raping her, the three accused dropped the girl outside the Laxmi Nagar Metro station and fled, they said.

The accused, who have been identified as Zubair, Shahid and Amjad, are absconding and two police teams have been constituted to arrest them, a senior police official said.

“The girl lives with her parents in their native home in Mathura and had come to Delhi last week looking for a job and was staying at her elder sister’s home in Lajpat Nagar.

“The girl in her complaint has said that she had met one of the accused, Zubair, through internet while she was looking for a job. Zubair had introduced himself as the owner of a placement agency in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar and promised her a job with good salary. He had asked her to come to Laxmi Nagar for an interview,” the official said.

Yesterday, the complainant met Zubair at Laxmi Nagar Metro station from where he took her to the fourth floor of a flat in the area on the pretext of an interview.

“The other two accused were already present at the flat when the girl reached there. The three accused then allegedly took turns to rape her. Later they dropped her back to Laxmi Nagar metro station and threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the incident to the police,” the officer said.

After the suspects fled, the girl called her sister and narrated the ordeal after which they went to the Shakarpur police station and filed a complaint. A case of gangrape and illegal confinement was registered against the trio.

“Several hideouts have been raided in Laxmi Nagar but the three could not be traced. The probe is on,” the officer added.
