Vijayawada, July 06: In continuance of the attacks on women in the State, another woman, this time a final year engineering student, was found murdered in Krishna district.
Hepsiba (22), a final year engineering student of Nova College of Engineering near Ibrahimpatnam of Krishna district, was today found murdered in a pond near Krishnayapalem village of Managalagiri mandal in Guntur district.
The girl was found tied and put in a gunny sack and dumped in a pond near Krishnayapalem village.
Going into the details, Hepsiba (22), a final year engineering student of Nova Enginnering Collge, went missing three days ago, after she started off for her college from home.
Worried over this, her parents, it is reported, went to the BSNL office and got a calling list of calls from her mobile number yesterday morning.
Following this, they called up the number that was last dialled from her cell phone and found a woman named Lakshmi, wife of an auto driver, Linga Reddy of Vijayawada, answering the phone.
Hepsiba’s parents reportedly went to Lakshmi’s house and found that Linga Reddy was also missing for the last two days. Another reason for them to doubt Linga Reddy was that Hepsiba, over the last few days has been going to the bus stand in an auto, after her bus pass expired and that she was wearing gold jewellery on her, which they feel might have prompted Linga Reddy to plan her murder.
Meanwhile, the Mangalagiri CI said that after finding the body yesterday, they contacted the Vijayawada police, who identified the body to be that of Hepsiba’s. Subsequently a case was registered at Managalagiri and the body sent to NRI hospital at Mangalagiri, where the autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
On the other hand, police arrested Linga Reddy and are questioning him for further details. Hepsiba’s parents allege that Linga Reddy might have murdered her for the jewellery.
Meanwhile, sources told Express that finger nail marks were seen on Hepsiba’s neck, not ruling out the possibility of rape also.
