Hyderabad, January 11: The recent spate of police harassment against women indicates that women’s security is at stake especially at the hands of protectors of law. Last week a film story like incident was disclosed where a top police official was found involved in women harassment scandal.
Another incident like this occurred in the old city where a woman lodged a complaint against a sub inspector belonging to the Chandrayangutta police station.
Although the police men has the habit of repeatedly calling the complainants to the police station but on the contrary the sub inspector Venkateshwarulu allegedly has a different style. He goes to the woman complainant’s house and calls her to a restaurant or secluded place to get the details of the case.
The complainant and her mother in the said case refused over and over again but the sub inspector didn’t stop harassment and started troubling them on phone.
The sub inspector is accused of trying to made sexual advances to the woman when he went to meet the woman at her house in the pretence of investigation.
Sub inspector Venkateshwarulu is said to be the sub inspector of 2007 batch.
The victim of his harassment Rubina Sultana 21 narrated her woe to the DCP south zone Mr. Madhusudhana Reddy.
Rubina Sultana had filed a case against her husband Shafeeq who went abroad 15 days ago and sent a divorce notice to her. Rubina had appealed for justice in the court and the court had ordered Chandrayangutta police to register dowry harassment case against her husband. Taking the advantage of the complaint the SP was trying to harass the woman.
