There are many families in the city where daughters not only come as a blessing but they have opened doors of earnings for their family too. One such girl is a 10-year-old Tabassum who works in an agarbatti factory during holidays to help her auto-driver father.
Tabassum earns Rs. 50 a day. She told that she is the student of 5th class in Daricha-e-Bavaheer School Urdu medium. At this tender age she makes agarbattis as fast as other women do. Tabassum’s mother Hameeda Begum revealed that she has 5 daughters of which 3 are married.
10-year-old Tabassum, who has taken up studies besides earning a few bucks to bear her educational expenses, is a role model for scores of girls who cannot study due to poverty and end up washing clothes and utensils, sweeping and doing petty jobs at others houses.
