Girl and man wounded in Melbourne shooting

Melbourne, February 24: A Teenage girl and a man have been shot on the porch of a home in Melbourne’s north.

The 16-year-old girl was visiting a male friend, 24, at his Dallas home when they went to answer a knock at the front door, police said.

When the pair went on to the porch the male caller produced a handgun and fired, wounding the girl in the thigh.

The same bullet then struck the man in the ankle.

The gunman fled, sparking a police search.

The girl was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Paramedics bandaged the man’s ankle but he refused further treatment.

Police are investigating.
