Ghulam Nabi Azad visiting city on Monday

Hyderabad, May 15: Union minister and in-charge of the state Congress affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad is arriving here on May 16 on a two-day visit.

He will arrive at 3 pm by flight and is likely to stay at the Lake View Guest House.

The visit, coming close on the heels of the drubbing the party received in the by-elections, is assumed to be significant in view of the disciplinary action pending against party MLAs and others loyal to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress.

This will be Azad’s first visit to the state after becoming in-charge of AP Congress affairs two months ago and the visit is meant to take stock of the political situation and organisational matters.

He will meet party MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Congress functionaries and others to discuss the steps to be taken to strengthen the party.

He will brief chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC president D Srinivas and other party leaders concerned on the party high command’s thinking on pro-Jagan legislators and leaders.

His visit is also expected to clear uncertainty over the political future of YS Vivekananda Reddy and minister DL Ravindra Reddy who were defeated in the by-elections.
