Hyderabad: AICC is actively considering nominating Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha as the incharge of Congress party affairs in Telangana State.
It is reported that many senior leaders of TS invited the attention of AICC President, Mr. Rahul Gandhi and told him that during the tenure of office of Mr. Azad as incharge of integrated AP, Congress assumed power in 2004. Mr. Azad is very well versed with the party affairs in Telangana. He had then forged the best strategy for aligning TRS with Congress. It may take more time for the present incharge, Mr. Kuntaiah to understand the party affairs of Congress in TS. The present General Secretary of Congress did not play a key role to keep the Congress leaders united.
It is likely that 3-4 months before the General Elections, General Secretary of State Congress may be changed. Mr. Azad has been tendering advice to TS Congress leaders even though he is not incharge of party affairs.
It is reported that Mr. Azad has a plan to take out a bus yatra of TS Congressmen to send a message to the voters that Congress leaders of the State are united.
It may be mentioned that Mr. Azad had played a key role in the formation of Telangana State. Congress cadre of TS is certain that with the induction of Mr. Azad as incharge of Congress affairs, “Good days” would come back to Telangana. They also pointed out that Congress resumed power in Karnataka thrice and on all these occasions, Mr. Azad played a key role to forge an alliance with Janata Dal (Secular).
