GHMC wards retained at 150

The strength of Elected Ward Members of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has been retained at 150.

The proposal sent by the Commissioner & Special Officer, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for delimitation of the GHMC Wards into 200 was found difficult to maintain natural boundaries and many wards are falling across the natural boundaries. If the number of wards was increased to 200, there will be a lot of pressure on the existing man power at circle and sub-circle

levels, the co-ordination at Head office will also be better for 150 wards instead of 200.

Therefore, the strength of the Elected Members for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was retained at 150 as per the Andhra Pradesh Municipal

Corporations (Fixation of strength of Elected Members) Rules, 2005 issued in G.O.Ms.No.328, MA&UD (Elec.II) Department, dated 20.04.2005 as amended subsequently from time to time.

Under the circumstances, the State government has decided to retain the number of elected ward members to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation at 150. Accordingly, a Notification shall be published in the Extraordinary Issue of the Telangana Gazette, dated September 30. (NSS)
