GHMC to deploy 81 emergency monsoon squads

GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar informed that in view of the onset of monsoon, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would deploy 81 special emergency squads. Last year only 18 emergency squads were deployed.

Similarly, 24 Engineering divisions in the GHMC limits and six Central Emergency teams have been provided with five auto tippers with four labourers for each division. In addition, 51 special teams are being deployed on 24×7 basis to take up monsoon related works in the coming days.

The GHMC is planning to take up all precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents due to heavy down pours in the coming days. Top priority is being given for desilting of nalas, storm water drains, pot holes and water stagnation points.

Somesh Kumar held a review meeting with all the Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, senior officials from Engineering, Town Planning and Health wings and reviewed various works related to Engineering, town Planning and sanitation on Thursday at the GHMC Head Office.

The Commissioner has also reviewed the implementation of Haritha Haram project wherein the GHMC is planning to take up plantation of 50 lakhs saplings. (INN)
