The GHMC has taken up nala desilting works on priority basis said Dr.B.Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC during inspection on Mohalla ka Chullah at Old City where nala desilting works are being taken up.
The Commissioner along with Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, MLA, Yakutpura Constituency inspected one of the nala near Yakutpura Railway Station. He assured that the GHMC will provide ex-gratia to the deceased who died during nala works.
The GHMC warned that nobody would be spared if they found in irregularities during nala desiltation works.
The Commissioner said that lot of unauthorized constructions are coming up encroaching nalas and also it has been observed that lot of garbage and other wastes are being dumped in the nalas for which the GHMC is planning to construct slabs on the nalas. The commissioner took umbrage over the officials for their negligence and clear directions were given to the Engineering, Town Planning and connected wings to take up the responsibility while performing their duties in a proper manner.
The GHMC is also planning to remove the unauthorized encroachments on along all nalas a joint inspection with connected departments like HMWS&SB, Police to sort out the issues at the earliest. Earlier the Commissioner along with the MLA, Yakutpura and other public representatives held a review meeting at the Zonal Office at South Zone. (NSS)
