Hyderabad: Nearly 15 NGOs who have set up Team Baqra’eid to create awareness among Muslims regarding need for maintaining cleanliness during Eid-ul-Azha festival has decided to launch a campaign on large level. Baqra’eid team will run door to door campaign and highlight the need to maintain cleanliness. Banners and posters will also be put up on prime locations. Team convenor Mohammed Zia ur Rahman told this. He said GHMC should do this work on large level, bags should be supplied to clear removal of offals, entrails and carcasses of sacrificial animals, etc.
Mr. Rahman said GHMC which is spending 600 crores for Ganesh festival should also spend some amount on maintaining cleanliness during Baqra’eid. Members representing NGOs told that generally it is witnessed that animal wastes are not cleared off even after two days of slaughtering. Last year GHMC had promised to provide 94 thousand plastic bags during festival of sacrifice but didn’t stick to it.
Team Baqra’eid will campaign against throwing of animal wastes in nalas or on roads.
