GHMC special compaigns to weed out bogus voters

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took up a pilot project with Election Commission launching a nationwide drive to link Aadhar data with Electoral Photo Identity Card to dig over the fake voters from the existing electoral rolls.

After verification of 12,533 voters in 15 polling booths, the GHMC found that about 38 percent (7,473 voters) shifted to other places, Dead-303, duplicate-652 and ineligible-146 (5.64 percent), door locked after several visits- 697 (3.57 percent).

According to GHMC officials EPIC database had many duplicates which need to be removed with proper authentification. Aadhar seeding in electoral roll database is the foolproof method for for removing bogus voters.

GHMC will organize special campaigns in all 24 Assembly constituencies on April 19 and 26 at the respective polling stations where the BLOs and GHMC officials will collect the information from the voters.

The GHMC has also decided to organise door- to-door visit where the BLOs of concerned polling stations will visit the houses from April 13 to 18 to obtain Aadhar and EPIC details. In case of door lock, the BLO will paste a sticker with his contact number intimating date of next visit to the house. Supervisory officer and BLO will visit the door lock cases from April 19 to 25 for authentification.
