Towards protecting the city’s heritage, the GHMC has been actively pursuing various works. Commissioner Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mr. Somesh Kumar visited Osmania Bagh located at the back of Osmania Hospital on Friday and announced to revive its glory within 100 days. He was accompanied with the officials of Agha Khan Trust, Chief city planner GHMC and Zonal Commissioner South Zone Mr. Bala Subramaniam.
Mr. Kumar announced to beautify the park around the 100 year old historic ‘life-saver’ tamarind tree _the tree that saved about 150 lives during the 1908 Musi floods. Although several measures were taken to restore and maintain the historic tree but its immediate environs lie in neglect.
Mr. Somesh Kumar directed the officials to constantly keep in touch with the authorities of Agha Khan Trust, which has been given the contract for reviving the Osmania Bagh, and extend cooperation in the survey and developmental plan for the garden.
