Hyderabad, October 28: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will make elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of Eid-ul-Zuha, Bakrid festival to be celebrated on November 7.
GHMC Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy on Thursday convened a meeting with the senior officials to review the arrangements. As thousands of Muslims sacrifice animals on the Bakrid, Deputy Mayor Jaffer Hussain Meraj has asked the officials to take up the measures for prompt lifting of the animal waste.
Accordingly, in addition to the regular fleet, it has been decided to engage five front-end-loaders, seven skid-steer loaders, 18 JCBs and 25 tonner, 10 tonners and 6 tonner tippers at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh.
Further, a trenching ground has been prepared at Jawaharnagar dumping yard for disposal of the animal waste. The additional lifting of waste will be done for three days from November 7.
