Hyderabad: GHMC has imposed a ban for six months on digging of roads. This decision was taken in a monthly meeting held yesterday. It was stated that whatever roads have been dug should be repaired within the stipulated time. If Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and South Power Distribution Company want to dig roads for emergency works, they should intimate the people that they are laying pipelines or electrical lines. These departments should erect a sign board at the place of digging the roads mentioning the nature of work and the period of its completion.
Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner of GHMC told that in the next two years 2700 Km pipelines would be laid with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 2000 crore so that the surrounding areas of Hyderabad could get drinking water. He also said that multilevel car parking complexes would be constructed at open places by GHMC.
